Disk contention issues
Working with a netbook with 1Gh Processor and 1 Gb memory Only some supportive software such as adobe reader, flash AVG anti virus, malware, etc. The hard drive is 60% free and regularly maintained with diskclean and defragI find the drive light is on or rapidly flashing much more than normal and I find a significant amount of latency with the keyboard and mouse. Want to use the tools to determine precisely what is occupying the harddriveUsing services.msc to stop such as smartcard, themes, and zune servicesScreenshots of activity are posted to Windows live screenshots at https://cid-63220807a7f4accb.photos.live.com/browse.aspx/XP%20Performance?nl=1&uc=1Looking for specific guidance on how to identify and reduce disk contention1 person needs an answerI do too

Sounds like the perfect job for Process Monitor . Limit the display to file system activity and you'll see not just which exe is accessing disk so much, but exactly what it's accessing.Depending on where that leads you, you might find Process Explorer useful, too. Think Task Manager on steroids. :)You might say Monitor's focus is on a process's interaction with the outside world (disk, registry, network, other processes), while Explorer's is on its identity, activity statistics, and to some extent what it's doing internally (if you look at threads and can resolve symbols).
