Disconnections started after installing Vista SP2
It wasn't unusual to experience more than a dozen disconnects within a two-hour period, and there was no pattern to the disruptions. I recall reading that SP2 was supposed to correct disconnections when the PC returned from sleep mode (a problem that persisted). I kept waiting to receive an update from Microsoft that would solve the problem. It seemed that every time I filled out a form and submitted it (for example, when making a purchase and entering billing information) I got a "page not found" or similar error message and had to reload the page. After four months the problem slowly improved but not entirely. Now, when my connection drops, I disconnect my Linksys USB WI-FI Finder adapter, wait 15 seconds for it to finish scanning, plug it in and I'm back on the Internet. Microsoft needs to do a better job testing major upgrades before releasing them. For me now, the plugging-unplugging seems to do the trick. Has anyone else tried this?
