Disconnected Network Drive ONLY when trying to Upload Files
Windows 7 Pro
Novell Networking Software
Network drives all show and are accessible in Windows Explorer ("Computer")
They are also accessible in Office Applications.
-However-
When trying to upload files through a website or attach to an email, they show up as Red X "Disconnected Network Drive"

So if I understand you correct, you are using Novell Client for Windows
7 to access files on a Netware/OES Linux server?
If yes, what version of the client are you using and to what servers do
you connect (Netware version/service pack level or OES Linux
version/service pack level)?
To avoid issues you should always use the latest Novell Client, which
is today "Novell Client 2 SP1 for Windows 7 (IR9a)". You should also be
current on patches for your server OS. Please bear in mind, that all
Netware before NW6.5 SP8 is not supported on the newer clients although
it may work.
Do you have any issues apart from the red X - that is can you
successfully store or read the files even if you see the red X?
Lastly, what software do you use to upload files through a website (or
do you mean downloading from the internet to the server)?
What e-mail program do you use, where you try to attach files to an
e-mail?
If both are web-applications, check your java settings as they are
probably using java to open the file browser for selecting files. And
check your internet and java and email security settings - maybe you
are not allowed to upload files to the internet from your local
servers. - If I were your Network administrator, you could be pretty
sure, that only very priviledged users would be able to export internal
data to the internet or send them freely around via e-mail.
I am using Novell Client against OES2SP3 servers and do not see any of
the issues you describe using Firefox 4, 5 and 6 nor using IE7, IE8 and
IE9, nor using WinSCP for FTP and SFTP acccess. That applies to Win7 32
and 64 as well as Windows Server 2008 R2. But of course I am here the
administrator and setting my own limits.

So it's more a cosmetic issue?

apparently
the technicians visited and said that they could probably find a patch for the server software, but that it might create other issues.
so I just work-around/through it
thanks for interest & suggestions

Same issue here, Latest Novell Client, Windows 7 Pro, IE9 when going to a web page that has an "upload file" button the novell network drives appear with a red x and are marked as disconnected when in fact they are not. It seems cosmetic.
