Disable Workgroup Password
I have several PCs networked together using a workgroup. All of the PCs are running Windows 7 Pro or Ultimate. (Please note: it’s a workgroup, not a homegroup.) It’s setup so that any of the PCs can access the other PCs. Everything is working fine. When I first set up this network I had to put all of the PCs in the same Workgroup and give each PC the name and password for each of the other PCs. I am about to give away one of the PCs and I want to disable its ability to connect to the remaining PCs. I have deleted everything I can think of deleting but the PC I’m giving away is still able to see all of the others and connect to them. How do I disable that? Thanks Peter

Well, lets say you are in an office... so all the computers in your workgroup are in the same network, you can remove one, take it home and connect to your network.... and you won't be able to see or connect to that workgroup. workgroups are local to networks. So if your giving a machine away, you shouldn't have anything to worry about, though it is probably in your best interest to wipe the machine and do a fresh install and do not set a password, let the new user worry about that.:P Advice offered, If you need more help it is advised to seek the council and advice of paid professionals. The answer is always 42, or reboot.

Hi Peter, Right-click Computer - Properties - Advanced System Settings In Computer Name tab, click Change near bottom, clear the Workgroup name. Or just change your computer name.
