Disable UAC for a single application when running under XP Compatibility Mode
We have Windows 7 Enterprise and I need help to allow a Standard User to run a trusted application in Compatibility Mode without UAC prompt. We do not want to completely disable UAC. Separately managing applications on several hundred desktops via the Application Compatibility Toolkit is not a path wed like to take. Think about it, we don't want to grant admin rights to everyone just so they can run an app that needs to run under XP Compatibility Mode. The application is installed in a secure location and the only difference is that it needs to be run under Compatibility Mode for XP. There is no UAC prompt if Compatibility Mode is not used. If it cannot be done this seems to be a short-sighted decision, does anyone know if this is the same in Windows 8?

What are you trying to do? Deploy it for that specific application only to all users? See: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/316-compatibility-mode.html Option 3, #4. You can deploy the registry key specific to the application and set it for compatibility mode.
