Disable Logoff Button in Windows 7 Starter Edition
There is no group policy setting s in windows 7 starter edition. I want to disable all shutdown, logoff and lock out procedures in windows 7 starter edition. I had changed the registiry, added the "DisableLockWorkstation" and "HideFastUserSwitching" DWORD values under the"HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System"added the "NoClose", "NoLogOff", "NoWinKeys", "StartMenuLogOff" keys under the"HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System". Those values preventing shutdown, restart, lock out and sleep actions, but LogOff button stay still. What can i do for that? Thanks for any help. Ouz Krolu http://oguzkoroglu.net

This doesn't work for Windows 7 Starter Edition. Especially the Logoff button stays. "StartMenuLogOff" DWORD value makes no change in starter edition Ouz Krolu http://oguzkoroglu.net

Hi, As Windows 7 Starter doesnt support gpedit, I suggest upgrading your Windows 7 Starter to Home Premium, because Windows 7 Starter has the fewest features of the Windows 7 editions. Thanks sabrina. I know that, but this is not a single home computer enviroment, i am using my application in aproximately 130 windows starter machines, if i choose this option (the most shortest way to do). It will cost a lot to me and my clients. If there is a way in windows starter edition bypass the logoff will be mos appriciated. Ouz Krolu http://oguzkoroglu.net

Hi, If you would like to do this on your starter edition, you may try to use the script to do it. Regarding the script, it is recommended post a new thread in our MSDN forum for discussion: Microsoft Developer Network The reason why we recommend posting appropriately is you will get the most qualified pool of respondents, and other partners who read the forums regularly can either share their knowledge or learn from your interaction with us. Thank you for your understanding. Regards, Sabrina TechNet Subscriber Support If you are TechNet Subscription user and have any feedback on our support quality, please send your feedback here.
