Direct Access and a mobile 6to4 adaptor

Hi, we seem to have an issue with some of our older laptops where the mobile data adapter doesn't natively support ipv6 and instead it creates a 6to4 adapter, this causes Direct Access to fail.

I can just disable or delete the 6to4 and DA starts working again but the issue I'm having is that each time the mobile connection is made the mobile software checks the 6to4 adapter and if it isn't there or disabled it removed the old one and recreates a new one.

The machines are HP laptops and tablets 2740 and 8440 (just over 3 years old)

I have downloaded the latest software and drivers still no joy.

We are using 2008 DA from a UAG server, happy to upgrade if this helps.

Has anyone been able to resolve this issue ?

Hi,

As part of all my deployments I always disable 6to4 via an extra GPO.

To disable unused IPv6 transition protocols using Active Directory GPO, open the
Group Policy Management Console (GPMC) and create a new GPO. Edit the GPO by
navigating to Computer Configuration / Policies
/ Administrative Templates / Network / TCP/IP Settings / IPv6 Transition
.
Double-click Set 6to4 State and enable the policy, then select Disabled State
from the list of states. You can also manually disable for testing via the following commands

netsh interface 6to4 set state disabled
(disables 6to4)

netsh interface 6to4 set state enabled (enables
6to4)
