I've got a fairly new computer, a pavilion-dv6-2060 with 64-bit windows 7. Everything has been working just fine untill i installed civilization 4 on my computer. My games started crashing after about 1 min of play, the problem remains even though I have updated my DirectX, the driver for my graphic card, uninstalled civ4 and scanned for viruses. In the directx notes in the windows folder it looks like the installation tried to install directX 9 on my computer? i dont know... Hi, your logfile doesn't show any errors. The game needs DirectX 9.0c, and apparently it was installed by the setup program because you didn't have it before (it's an older than the actual version but that shouldn't matter*). No, DirectX 11 (included in Windows 7) doesn't contain some optional files from older DX versions that a certain game may need; and no, you should not revert this installation because you'll notice that the major part of pre-2009/2010 games relies on DX 9.0c, not on the newer DX10/11 versions. Back to your issue: Don't you have any logs from the crashes? Event viewer, reliability log, minidump? The problem doesn't seem connected to DirectX.
