DirectAccess on Windows Phone

Hi, hopefully a pretty straight forward question, although my web search didn't come up with the answer.

I'm looking to implement DirectAccess for our Windows 7 clients to replace our existing VPN solution. Do Windows Phones support DirectAccess to allow remote access back into our corporate infrastructure?

Hi,

DirectAccess is only for Windows 7,8.1 and 10 domain joined clients.

So no phones are not supported. Alought you can use the native VPN built into the remote access console to support windows phones.

Hi,

Even if Windows phone share some components with it's brother, it is not in the Microsoft strategy. Even if it was, that would drive to a poor user experience, limited by the short life of the battery.

sstamp, your question basically answered by rm_knight and BenoitS. So I would propose them as answer.

But since your are talking about looking to implement DirectAccess for Windows 7 clients; maybe you mean you want to use Windows Phone to connect those Windows 7 clients with DirectAccess. If that is the case, then; yes you can use Windows Phone as a WiFi hotspot to connect to DirectAccess.

I disagree, the point of DirectAccess would be to provide remote access to internal resources (eg LoB applications) - in the same way that any mobile device would connect to a VPN. I'm also not convinced it would shorten your battery life, since you'd only be connected to data services when to needed access to the remote services (in the same way you would use a traditional VPN on a mobile device).

Hi,

Here is a major difference between DirectAccess and VPN. You're always connected with DirectAccess. This provide device management capability even if user is not logged.
