Hello Stephen, As the new report issue you mentioned is different from the one discussed in this current thread (which is a BitLocker Drive Encryption issue), we'd recommend that you start up a new thread for it. I have the same issue- "Digital Locker not available" when I try to save my bitlocker password using "Secure Online Key Backup" with Vista ultimate. Was there ever a solution to your issue that you can share?

I also get "Digital Locker not available" through the Secure Online Key Backup for both BitLocker & EFS.I had to manually go to the digital locker and enter in my keys....is there a solution yet? I may have a particular case based on my specs below: Vista Ultimate OEM 32-bit Complete Windows updates to date including sp1 BitLocker without TPM (using flash card) Windows Live ID: created through a Windows Live Custom Domains HP Pavilion tx1000 series tablet

I am running Vista Ultimate x64, and I am having the same issue when trying to save my bitlocker recovery password- cannot connect. "Digital Locker Is Not Available" Obviously this is an issue with Microsoft as it is not isolated. If keys cannot be backed up to the digital locker then essentially it is a useless feature. They need to address this problem and resolve it. I suspect it may be an issue with SP1- possible the secure online key backup feature of Ultimate has been rendered nonfunctional, or as the error states, is no longer able to connect to the digital locker; Hence the "Digital Locker is Not Available" error.

Yup, I'm running Vista Ultimate x64 (wSP1), and I'm also getting the same "Digital Locker is not available" message when trying to upload my bitlocker keys. It is not an issue with the log-in, as putting in the wrong password won't even get you to that screen, so it is obviously able to verify the Live ID account.

No solution for problem. MSFT wanted to charge me $200+ just to troubleshoot a problem with their software because it required higher up tech suport. I now know it's not just me experiencing this problem. I can not understand how MSFT sells this "Ultimate" version of their OS while some of the features are not functioning and then they want to charge you to take a look at their faulty software. I guess that is a deterrant they use so that users not bother them with these kind of issues. Any suggestions? Anyone have a solution? MSFT are you listening!!! get your act together....

Robbin, Did this ever get resolved? It's now July 2008 and running Vista x86 SP1, I get the same issue. This needs to be escalated.

I too have never ever managed to get this tool to work (under Vista x64). Is anyone actually able to confrim that they have ever seen it work? Some concrete advice on debugging it would be helpful.

I have never gotten it to work under Vista X64. It did work on my old 32bit Vista Ultimate Laptop.

My story is exactly the same. Under Vista Ultimate x64, both RTM and SP1, trying to save my bitlocker recoverymagic runes to the digital lockerhas simply never ever worked, same story "unavailable" message with no detail.Perhaps Microsoft has never tested this under the x64 build and it's simply a case of code-not-yet-written error.I wonder if it could be to do with network connectivity? Perhaps its an issue with routers - firewalling, state of NAT, availability of other IP facilities. I can retest it on a non-NAT globally visible IP address and turn off all firewalling at the LAN boundary to see if that makes a difference.Does it use HTTP over TCP over IPv4? I've never taken a look, maybe I should.Someone from that product group should say hello. I can run it with some of Mark Russinovich's tools watching it...Cecil Ward
