Difficulty connecting to internet through wired D-Link
Computer-Compaq presario
Os- Vista 32 bit
ISP- Comcast broadband
I recently restored my computer to its factory condition after my computer got some vista security 2012 virus, and now I am having alot of difficulty getting it reconnected to the internet.
I was using a Ativa 802.11g usb adapter to connect wirelessly to my D-Link DIR-655 router before I restored my computer. But after restoring it, I no longer have the necessary files on my computers hard drive to recognize the adapter and connect
to the network.
After 5 hours of working on it today I have conceded to try to connect my ethernet cable to the router and just hard wire my computer into the network. Now I am having an issue with getting the router and my computer to recognize that they are connected,
the router doesnt light up for the 2nd computer and my computer still cant find any networks to connect to the internet.
any help for the ativa 802-11g usb wifi option or hardwiring to the d-link dir-655 option would be greatly appreciated.

for the ethernet controller you have to be sure that it has the latest updates,( you should go to compaq.com and download from there) for the usb adapter(wi-fi) you also need the driver, go to the manufacturer homepage and download from there. for
the router maybe you need to do a reset, or config again. good luck any help is well appreciated, it all depends on who needs it
