Devices and Printers Grouping
In WinXP SP3 I had the option to group my printers and faxes via location. In Win7 SP1 I have not found an option to configure the grouping via location in the Devices and Printers Window. Is there a way to get rid of the devices section and then group just the printers by their location? These will be network printers and we have several locations (13 to be exact). I need this grouping option to help aid in finding printers in their respective locations. Can anyone help with this

Hi, Devices displayed in Devices and Printers are typically external devices you can connect to or disconnect from your computer through a port or network connection, this would be helpful to manage your devices: Managing devices with Windows 7 If you only want to manage printers, I suggest you try to use print management: What's New in Print Management in Windows 7 Hope it helps. I looked at this but it still does not answer the question about setting the printers up in groups. I need to know if there is a wawy to group them via location. The Print manager does help get rid of the attached devices and just shows the printers, but I also need the grouping feature if I can find away to do it.

Hi, Based on my research, the location option has been removed in Windows 7, and the effective options are following: · Name · Classification · Device Category · Manufacturer · Model · Status Due to Windows 7 and Windows XP are different, we cannot guarantee that they have all same functions. I suggest you submit your feedback to Windows 7 feedback team, they would consider your advice seriously: Windows 7 Feedback Alex ZhaoPlease remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
