Details tab on file properties is missing custom fields.
When we create our binaries we add some custom fields to the version details. In Windows 7 these fields are no longer appearing. Is there some way in Windows 7 to get these fields to display?
Thanks,
Anthony

How do you create customized properties in Detail tabs? If it is coding related, I suggest you discuss in our MSDN forum.

This isn't entirely coding related. The problem is that Win7 no longer shows custom fields on the details tab. On every other version of windows before, the Version tab showed all of the details of the file. Even some of the default fields are no longer showing. For example, on WinXP/2003, the numeric and string version numbers would be displayed. On Win7 only the numeric version number is shown.

These details are controlled not by Microsoft, but by third parties using Shell Extensions, which are installed on a per-file-type basis. For example, Office files have details available only if Office has ever been installed on the computer (or the free Office file type readers or shell extensions). Adobe files are the same way.

I am also debugging the problem. I am using Wise 9.0.2 to generate the installation executive package. The generated executive can display the "version" tab in WinXP and show all correct version/product display string. However, the same executive
file cannot display the "version" tab at all in Vista and Win7. A similar tab in Vista and Win7 is a new tab "Details". So I am wondering that MSFT had removed the support of "version" tab and use a new tab "Details" as the replacement in Vista/Win7.
Now my question is how to make those properties of "Product name", "Product version" and "Copyright" in the "Details" tab be supported in Wise 9?
The working script is listed as below:
Document Type: WSE
item: Global
Version=6.0
Title=xxx Installation
Version File=6.0.116.0
Version Description=xxx install
Version Copyright=Copyright 2010 xxxx, Inc.
Version Company=xxx xxxx, Inc

End Gradient=0 0 0
Windows Flags=00000100000000010010110100000000
Log Pathname=%MAINDIR%\INSTALL.LOG
Message Font=MS Sans Serif

Disk Label=WiseInst
Disk Filename=SETUP
Patch Flags=0000000000001001
Patch Threshold=85
Patch Memory=4000
EXE Filename=..\Release\xxx_VistaSetup.exe
FTP Cluster Size=20
Dialogs Version=7
Variable Name1=_SYS_
Variable Default1=C:\NT\System32
Variable Flags1=00001000
Variable Name2=_WISE_
Variable Default2=C:\Program Files\wise installation system
Variable Flags2=00001000
Variable Name3=DRV_NAME
Variable Default3=xxx
end
But unfortunately, the same script doesn't display the "Version" tab in Vista/Win7 file property.
Is there any suggestion or help?
Thanks.
