How can you fix problems when Destination host unreachable?

By testing the protocol you want to use or if you want to use ping to test connectivity by ensuring (at least temporarily) that all parts of the path allow ICMP.  <eg>

However, I remember seeing a printing guru advise a very appropriate tool for this scenario.  I still can't find what I thought I had read but this is as close as I got the last time:

I'm pretty sure it was a suggestion by Alan Morris but while on that tack I discovered that there are some  Printing_Admin_Scripts  that could be useful in this scenario

hi todd schaeffer

May I know a questions , are you going to connect to the printer through wireless network? if you are in a domain network you can add your default getway and full DNS name in host files the location is C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc. please get help from your IT administrator.

Hi,

According to your description, it seems that you can`t get an internet connection, right?

1.First of all ,I recommend you check your Router configuration carefully ,and ensure it works correctly. Here we can use a phone or other devices to link to the route to have a test .

2.And then I recommend you run the built-in troubleshoot tools to have a diagnostic and repair.

To run troubleshoot tools:

Action center\Troubleshooting \Network and Internet \Internet Connections, Network Adapter, Incoming connections

3.Update your network adapter driver

4.If you work with the static address ,I recommend you to change to obtain an IP address automatically.

To Obtain an IP address automatically :

Network and sharing center \change adapter settings and then open the Property of the Adapter ,double click the Ipv4, Obtain an IP address automatically  Obtain a DNS address automatically.

Best regards

Prnport.vbs does not appear to be compatible with Windows 8.1. Other information was helpful. Trying to connect all port options by printer properties was unsuccessful.

Internet service provider was contacted to solve domain problems. Problems connecting varied from port 80 to subnet to DNS. Each attempt to connect another error occurred.

Router log in page is not responding. Internet Service Provider is trying to fix dynamic connectivity. Driver is updated.

Considering the router log in page is not responding ,I recommend you to reset the router and configure it again try to connect other machines to this router to confirm whether it can work correctly ?

If it works, try to connect the machine again and then try the built-in troubleshoot tools to have a diagnostic and repair the internet connection again.

Any update from the Internet Service Provider ?

Connecting the computer directly to the router allowed access. Each device (laptop, phone, and printer) are recognized. However, printer installation software is unsuccessful in networking devices and ping attempts time out.

Hi Todd Schaeffer,

I am glad to hear that directly connectting to the router will be allowed access and the device will be recognized.
It seems that the issue now is concentrated on the printer.Did this printer work correctly before?

I recommend you to connect the printer to the laptop with a wire , ping the printer again.

1.If it works , try to install the driver and sometimes you may need to download the driver from the manufacture website.

2.If it won`t work, turn off the firewalls , the antivirus and run the built-in troubleshooting tools to have a diagnostic. And then try to install the driver again.

To run the built-in troubleshooting tools :
Action Center \Troubleshooting \Hardware and Sound \Hardware and Device,Printer

Here is a normal solutions to troubleshoot network printer problems for reference:
