Desk top does not load after auto logon
My environment is a WAN, and each branch has a basic machine running as a "Kiosk", which allows non-users access to online company resources. The kiosks are all setup with a basic access user account and are setup to auto logon, my issue is that the desktop icons do not load after the auto logon sequence, however, I am able to log off and log on as administrator. When I CTRL ALT DEL and log off the desk top flashes and continues the log off sequence. I can log off and back in to the kiosk and the desk top loads fine, it is only during the auto logon phase...anyone, Bueller...Buellar1 person needs an answerI do too

Open regedit and look at theHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogonregistry key. In particular, check that the userinit and shell values are correct. If userinit points to a nonexistent executable, the computer will repeatedly logon and the immediately logoff. If shell points to a nonexistent or incorrect executable, you will get a blank desktop.BTW you may find MyLogon useful in this situation, it allows you to set a 'kiosk app' which is the only app accessible to a restricted kiosk user. http://mylogon.net(In fact I'm wondering if this is what's been done, and it's been incorrectly setup.)

Yes they are correct, I set DefaultUserName, DefaultPassword, and set AutoAdminLogon to 1. This is a set up as a "Kiosk app" perse', that is just our term for them. They are just limited access machines for non-users.

So I have narrowed it down to an Active Directory issue. I created a local ntuser.man profile and it loaded everytime. I tried pointing the AD profile to the local profile but got an error that it could not find profile. Anyone have any suggestions???
