Designating SSL Handshake Protocol for a single site
We access an external website that we have no control over that works fine with Windows XP and IE8, but does not appear to work with Windows 7 and IE8. From Windows XP systems, TLS 1.0 connections are negotiated and the system works fine. With Windows 7 systems running the same version of the browser, we have to disable all handshake protocols but SSL 3.0. A lot of our users need this site, and we have many more sites that require TLS 1.0 or better in order to operate. I can yell all I want at the people who run the site, but they don't care and they are not going to change the system for us. We lack the leverage to do anything on their side and need a way to work around them without harming our own users. Is there a way to tell IE to use SSL 3.0 for a site and not attempt TLS 1.0 while leaving the rest of the environment to continue to operate the way it normally would (negotiating TLS or SSL). I have never heard of a way to do this, but this can put a stop to our Windows 7 migration unless we find a way to fix this...

No. If the server doesn't support SSL 3.0, the client can't force it. You'll need to enable TLS 1.0 on your Windows 7 clients. Jonathan Stephens
