Just replaced my XP computer with a 7 Pro (64). When viewing the network (domain) on my old XP, it would show the description and the name: NY - John Williams (NY-04) where "NY - John Williams" was the description and "(NY-04)" the name. This made it easy to find a specific user's computer. On Windows 7, when viewing the Network, it shows: Name, Category, Workgroup, Network Location, Discovery Method, IP Address & MAC Address. Is there any way to tell it to show the Description as well, as I can't see who's computers I'm looking at? Thanks in advance, Ole

The first explanation did not work for me, as that was probably more meant for Vista. However, making the shortcut and renaming it according to this thread (http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7itpronetworking/thread/22516e39-9ac4-4841-874e-564bac87049f), worked like a charm. Thanks for your reply - it gave me a much missed feature. :) Ole
