Dell Inspiron 4000 Network (internal Ethernet) driver??? - SOLVED
I have just installed the W7RC on my Dell Inspiron 4000, and all went well except no network connectivity, (or sound) - Driver Not Installed (Code 28). Without connectivity I can't search for appropriate drivers!!! I've looked from another computer but I need connectivity to allow W7 to seek for them itself. Talk about Catch 22! Any recommendations please? SOLVED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OK - several tries of different things later - I found a wireless PC card that W7 would recognise and install, connected to the network and W7 downloaded a driver for the 10/100 NIC without being asked. All is working fine now......... except the sound! I'll post another query re that.

Morris,Yes, that's a common issue. Another way to do it is to download the driver onto another machine and put it on a USB thumbdrive or CD and then load onto the laptop. With most of the laptop vendors, you can just go to their website, put in the model number and it'll tell you which drivers are available.
