Deleting PST Files from File History

The folder containing my PST file is being backed up by File History. However, each time it backs up the PST file, it adds a date and time stamp into the file name. As a result, no two backup PST files have the same name. As a result, File History never replaces a previous version of the PST files regardless of the age. At this point, I have 35 backed up PST files occupying 371GB of my backup drive. I'm running out of space. I can't see how to delete the old PST files from within File History. I can delete them from Windows Explorer (at least they disappear from the list), but the available space on the drive doesn't change. Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi DrJimW,

You could change your file history setting in Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\File History\Advanced Settings.

If you are using Forever (default) in Keep saved versions, the size of your backup folder would become larger and larger.

I tested on my machine, delete files from backup folders directly should free disk space on backup drive. If you are using local drive please ensure that clear the recycle bin.

Try using the clean up versions, it will delete all previous versions except last one.
