Delete Wireless Home Network in Vista
I attempted to set up a home network on my old and new laptops. Old laptop is XP new one is Vista. Problem is two fold. 1, I must have set it up in reverse, the new computer only will go on line if the old computer is on and connected. 2, I have tried to remove the network from both computers and cannot seem to do so. I am really wanting to remove this network connection from the new lap top as it says limited, and local internet only. I have even done a complete system recovery back to new, but believe it or not the internet connections did not revert to what was original. Any help would be appreciated. Just want to get on line. No other wireless connection.

Hi Santara, Thank you for the post. Before we go any further, I would like to confirm the following points with you: 1. What it the network topology of this environment? The two computers Wireless Router the Internet? Or Windows Vista Windows XP the Internet? 2. Is this environment using dial-up connection? If so, what device is used to create the dial-up connection? 3. How does the Windows Vista computer get IP address? Is it a static or dynamic (assigned by DHCP server) IP address? 4. If the IP address is assigned by DHCP Server, can the Windows Vista computer get the IP address when the issue occurs? 5. Can the Windows Vista computer ping the Default Gateway when the issue occurs? 6. Can the Windows Vista connect to the wireless Router? Meanwhile, on the Windows Vista computer, please export the Windows IP Configuration for further research: Click Start, type cmd in the Start Search box, and press Enter. In the Command Prompt window, type ipconfig /all > ip.txt and press Enter. After that, in the Command Prompt window, type ip.txt and press Enter to open the ip.txt file. Please capture the content in ip.txt and paste it to the current thread. In addition, Ive included the following KB articles for your reference: How to connect to a wireless network in Windows Vista http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928429 MSBBN: How to troubleshoot wireless connection problems http://support.microsoft.com/?id=831770 Hope it helps.
