Delay or hang reading directory tree and saving file only when connected to office network
Only when I am connected to my corporate network, either locally or via VPN, I experience significant delays or hangs with the following actions: - getting windows explorer to start upon reboot - opening a directory tree from within an application (like Word or Notepad) - saving a file to any location, including the desktop from any application (for example, Notepad,MS Word). The issue does NOT occur when: - Opening, editing, and saving an existing file. - Downloading a pdf and save from within the browser - Creating and saving a new file using Boxer Text Editor from Boxer Software - not connected to the corporate network. Aero is off. I have administrator privs on the PC. Local techs have tested the hard disk and applied all MS updates and updated all drivers. Others with W7 on the corporate network are not experiencing this issue. Thanks in advance.

Hi, According to your description, I suggest to perform these steps to troubleshoot the issue: 1 Login with Clean Boot or Safe Mode with networking to see if the same issue occurs. 2 Disable Remote Differential Compression in “Programs and Featrues”. 3 Disable auto-turning: 1) Open “Command Prompt” with administrator 2) Input “netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled” and press Enter 4 Reinstall network card driver, also update the driver 5 Update the BIOS to the latest version 6 Perform a whole disk scan to check if any virus or spywares exist 7 Create another administrator account and login with it for test. Hope it helps and merry Christmas! Leo, Thanks for your response. I did part of the clean boot instructions (I didn't try disabling the MS services yet), and I did items 1 & 2. My tech staff did already do a full sweep and update of all drivers. I don't think it's the network card driver, because I experience the problem both with a wireless connection at home over VPN to the corporate network, and with both wired and wireless connections in my office. My access to the internet is not impacted, which uses the same TCP protocol, right? It seems to be related to the request and handling of directory listings maybe. The retrieval and display of directories seems very slow. When I use FTP tools, they fail to retrieve the directory lists. I have an adjacent XP laptop over the same connections to the same destinations that has no problem. I was thinking it might be an incompatibility between the OS on the file server I am accessing (some version of Windows Server) and my W7, but I'm thinking that wouldn't impact my retreival of directory listings using Reflection or PowerDesk, so I'm stumped.
