Del Wifi connection Windows 8

Hi,

I have read loads of things online but nothing has helped. i got a new Del laptop in june with Windows 8 installed. Everything was working fine and i was able to go on the internet and then i switched it to airplane mode. i have tried everything i can think of to try and get the wifi back.

The wifi says it is not connected but i am clearly able to use it on another laptop now and my husband is using it with no problems so it is not an issue with the wifi connection in our home.

Every thing i have read says you go to settings and then wifi but it is just disconnected. if i click on 'broadband connection it asks for a network authentication username and password. As I never signed up to this i have no idea what it is and have tried everything I can think of.

I have also gone to 'network sharing centre' but there seems to be no way to get my wifi back.

please help i am so annoyed and frustrated i can't believe that just by turning it onto airplane mode i have caused myself so many hours of grief!
