Defragmentation
Had no problems with install and running of Windows 7 RC. All been very smooth. Installed on a low capacity HDD and decided to remove unwanted programs before mirrorring to much latrger HDD. Decided to defrag as finalstage prior to the mirrorand must say would prefer to see avisual view as to the defragprogress.

Hi BarrowhillThe changes to the traditional defrag component happened in Vista as a result of feedback. It was decided to move it to a backgound process that works on a schedule. It runs as a low priority process when the system is not being used, similar to the Search Indexingcomponent.Initially, there was no real interface for the defragmenter at all unless you ran it from a command line. This was later changed and and changed even more in Windows 7. It's now possible to manually Set the schedule, Analyze, Run defrag from the GUI as well as select the drive/partition to defrag. The only progress indicator you see is the percentage count in the GUI.There are a lot of people who miss the traditional graph type interface.Hope this helps.Thank You for testing Windows 7 Ronnie Vernon MVP
