Defragment
When trying to defrag get the following message. MMC can not open the file C\Windows\system32\dfrg.msc. However the file is there.1 person needs an answerI do too

hello Open the folder C:\Windows\System32 using Windows Explorer.see if there is a file named DFRG.MSCIf the file is not there you have to extract it manually from the Windows XP CD-ROM. use these steps to reinstall Defrag. thanks for the help. DFRG.msc is in the System32 folder. I tried your recommendation anyway but no success. Any other ideas?

I tried the sfc/scannow twice with no luck. I did use the cd but that also did not work.

hello a disk that contains errors cannot be defragged..to trouble shoot this enter chkdsk c: /f in command prompt notice as in the sfc /scan there a space after chkdsk and after c: spaces are important to run chkdisk go to start, prorrams, accessories, to command prompt
