Default windows components? Easy crosscheck
I accidentally uninstalled a few of my windows components. I'm pretty sure I've got most of them back. I just want to make sure that everything's as it should be. So if anyone has Windows XP (SP 3 - don't know if there's a difference) and hasn't added/removed any of their components can just check, it would be greatly appreciated. Go to: Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs>Add/Remove Windows Components So the checkmark means add/keep and unchecked means remove/uninstalled. And some of them have Details where you also have options. Here's my list: Accessories and Utilites - Checked !! Accessories - Checked !! Games - Checked !! Fax Services - Unchecked Indexing Service - Unchecked Internet Explorer - Checked !! Internet Information Services (IIS) - Unchecked Management and Monitoring Tools - Unchecked Message Queuing - Unchecked MSN Explorer - Checked !! Networking Services - Unchecked Other Network File and Print Services - Unchecked Outlook Express - Unchecked Update Root Certificates - Checked !! Windows Media Player - Checked !! Windows Messenger - Unchecked If there's something checked on yours that's unchecked on mine, let me know. As well, if it has Details... then which of the options are checked/unchecked. Thanks in advance.1 person got this answerI do too

I see only one difference on my computer: Networking Services - Checked !! Internet Gateway Device Discovery and Control Client - Checked !! UPnP User Interface - Checked !! Those items aren't necessary. They make it a little easier to connect to some devices like broadband routers.Boulder Computer Maven Microsoft Most Valuable Professional

Thanks for checking, you even used my !! You're right, there doesn't seem to be much of a difference. But it's good to know. Thanks again.
