Default settings for services for Windows XP Home Edition SP3
I basically just want to know what are the default settings for services for Windows XP Home Edition SP3? When you click on Services, it states the settings you can print out are for the Professional Edition, so I would like to know what they are for the
Home Edition of Windows XP?1 person needs an answerI do too

in addition to the helpful links provided that cites what services are not necessary for the o.s. to function,
you can also disable "non-microsoft services" with a few clicks.
start by clicking on start>run>msconfig
after you type in and run msconfig, it will open up and you can go to the "services" tab
then you will see a box with the option to "hide" all microsoft services.
check/enable it and what remains on the list are those services that are not needed by the operating system.
you can disable each service on the list even if it comes from microsoft.
microsoft also provides programs with services that can be added to the o.s. but are not actually needed for the o.s. to function.
after you disable them, then click apply and the computer will reboot.
subsequently, a message box will pop up advising you that windows is running in a diagnostic mode.
so simply check the little box which will temprorialy turn off the messgage box.
