DNS and Outlook via vpn since install of SP1
have a strange issue with outlok connecting to exchange server since I installed sp1. We have a sonicwall vpn which uses a proprietary client. before sp1, when opening outlook after connecting vpn, connection was immediete and no issues. since sp1, outlook will not connect unless I do teh following steps. 1. open cmd wiht administrator. 2. run ipconfig /renew 3. Run Ipconfig /flushdns. once I do this, I can connect. prior to this, in cmd I cannot ping server by dns name. cannot ping its public IP. can only get response back when pinging lan Ip address. after I perform above steps, I can ping via dns name and outlook can connect. I must do this every time when using the vpn to connect. seems sp1 has an issue with allowing dns thru the vpn. anyone???

SOLVED.... or at least a workaround.... Add an entry in hosts file at this location c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts for instance. server.domain.com has local static ip address of 172.15.1.4 (address behind router) edit the file to add the folowing 172.15.1.4 server.domain.com worked immedielty and every time so far
