DNS Suffix Search List not working
I've got a Vista box with the latest updates etc. It is part of a domain, where it gets assigned 2 DNS Suffix. When I go in and a few more DNS suffix after the fact it appears to accept the changes without any problem. Although when I go to Command Prompt and type "ipconfig /all" the DNS suffix that I entered do not appear, and when I try to ping a host on that domain (without manually putting in the dns suffix) it cannot resolve. I have a co-worker with me with the exact same problem, either of us have been able to figure this out. If anyone knows a solution it would be appreciated. I've also installed the latest network drivers just in case that was the issue... Thanks, Eric

Seems the only way I can get the searchlist to work is to change the following registry key at bootup: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows NT\DNSClient] "SearchList"="<domains>" As Windows doesn't seem to append to the group policy above with the registry entry for "SearchList" under: [HKEY_Local_Machine\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters]

Change your network type to "Work network" for the LAN you're trying to add suffix's to. You probably have it set up as "Public" which is more secure and won't apply the suffix's. I had the same issue with Windows 7.
