DNS Stopped Resolving
DNS doesn't seem to resolving internet names to ip addresses. I've checked the settings for the network adapter and the DNS address seems to be correct. I've started and restared and released and renewed the ip address, but nothing seems to work. I'm connected to a DLink wireless/network adapter. Can anyone suggest a way to trouble shoot/fix this problem. Other computers on the net don't have the same problem. I'm running Vista Ultimate on a laptop. Thanks- Ron

Try running nslookup on the problem machine, and manually checking different URLS, provide your results.

Hi, Make sure you can ping the DNS server+ your ISP gatewayand make sure that your computer is configured to obtain its IP address automatically (if that is the way your router is set-up).

Interesting. I can resolve things from the DOS prompt level and I can ping outside the network. I started using Safari and it works the net fine. Looks like the problem is somehow with IE. I'm on the road now so I'll just continue to use Safari or Firefox, at least until I get home. Microsoft might want to look into this one. Thanks for the help. Ron

If you're using IE 7 - reset the settings from the Advanced tab.
