HiIf you are using Routers the Remote desktop Ports need to be open through the Routers and software Firewalls. The IP used for the Remote has to be the External Internet Address (not the LAN Address).http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/mobility/rdfaq.mspx Jack, MVP-Networking. WWW.EZLAN.NET

Hi Jack,We both are using a router. I thought I open port 3389, both in firewall settings and the router. Dose DNS need to be installed on the machine I'm trying to connect to?

HiThere is no special DNS needed on both computers beside the regular DNS configuration that is already part of the Router.DNS error might be genrated if the IP that you are using for the connection is Not resolved because t is not valid.Read this page it might be more precise in its instructions.http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/networking/expert/northrup_03may16.mspx Jack, MVP-Networking.
