DNS Server not respondong
I have recently purchased a new Compaq laptop and am having trouble connecting to the internet but only via pre paid USB internet. I am able to connect wirelessly through WiFi but have had no luck what so ever with any USB mobile device. I have had a look at other peoples forums on here that are having the same problem, i have tried diabling the mini wi fi port and i have also followed Novak's instructions below 1. Click "Start", input "NCPA.CPL" (without quotation marks) and press Enter. 2. Right click on the connection that you use for the local connection, and then click "Properties". 3. Click to select "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)", and then click "Properties". 4. In the Internet Protocol window, let's change the "Preferred DNS server" to 208.67.222.222 5. Click 'OK' twice to complete the modification. If the issue persists, please repeat the steps and change the "Preferred DNS server" to 208.67.220.220. Meanwhile, in (TCP/IPv4) Properties, please also select the "Validates settings upon exit" check box and exit to check the result. but i have had no results and am still unable to connect, is there any software updates or any other suggestions you can give me....or perhaps a suggestion on somewhere i can take my laptop to have someone look at it, i am situated in Adelaide, Australia thank you Sherine.P

Hi, Besides the suggestions of Novak, you can also try to : 1 Change adapter settings -> right clic on wireless network connection --> configure-> advanced-> 802.11b preamble --> long only 2 Disable the firewall temporally 3 Go into "Device Manager", and find your "network adapters" Disable your network adapters and then enable them again 4 Delete all entries(related to you laptop) in you router 5 Try to contact your ISP provider and ask him for DNS address 6 Try IPCONFIG /FLUSHDNS command This thread maybe helpful to you: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/w7itpronetworking/thread/eeb84518-903d-46d1-9398-80cf211878d7 Hope it helps.
