DNS Server not responding. DNS resets to the old settings.
Roland, on the surface it looks like you have a networking issue. I am inferring based on your post that you are talking about your local machine. I wil lgo out on a limb here. ipconfig /flushdns - that will flush your local dns cache (which will fill back up as you start normally browsing the net and such) your IP 4 stack, you mention that you manually changed your IP info, to include your "new" dns servers. Now, it sounds like to me that your machine is being issued an ip address. Is it a DHCP client of the router on your network? If so you will keep getting what the DCHP service assigns to you as IP address, dns servers...etc.. what is in its scope. Take a look at your cable modem/router, if you own it, you should be able to look at it's configuration and ammend it's settings and what the client's recieve via DHCP. Hope that helps.

Ok here is the problem as faced now. I used the command line to flush the DNS server addresses. I configured the new DNS servers in properties of the tcipiv4 protocol. and checked all the applied boxes. I use Norton 360. This has to do with SIMS 3 also. I launched SIM3 and checked the DNS cache and it chaged it back to the old not responding DNS servers. This is very puzzling to me. It displayed on the cmd line to the new settings and then reset to the old. It is not just sims either. If I reboot it will go back to the old settings. Windows 7 with service pack 1 installed. If I just change the info in the properties of the TCPI v4 it will revert back to the old settings because the cache is still set to the old server ip's. Thanks for any clues.Roland Wade PO1 USN Retired
