DISCOUNT for Windows 7 for Vista Users.
Good Day, as one of the many people that got stuck with windows vista, can I have a discount on the the new Windows 7? I think its only fair, I purchased my laptop in aug 2008. I do not think my request is unreasonable. What is microsoft going to do? Should I just go ahead and purchase a MAC?

Hello Boyd,There were many discounted options available for Windows 7 prior to launch, and several deals posted in the US after launch (don't know about other regions, but I assume there are deals there as well). Machines running Vista that were purchased after June 26 2009 may have come with a free/discounted upgrade for Vista. More details here: https://windows7upgradeoption.com/Faq.aspx. The program didn't extend back to your purchase date though.I'm not aware of any other discounts that have been announced by Microsoft. That's mainly going to be up to the individual retailers. Thanks,MarkWant to know if your current hardware & software will work with Windows 7? Good Day, as one of the many people that got stuck with windows vista, can I have a discount on the the new Windows 7? I think its only fair, I purchased my laptop in aug 2008. I do not think my request is unreasonable. What is microsoft going to do? Should I just go ahead and purchase a MAC? Actually, I don't see how seeking a discount on an OS for a computer that is over a year old is in any way reasonable. You are going to spend a few thousand dollars for a new Mac and theobligatoryapps for that computer because you didn't get a few dollars off an upgrade that can be gotten for around $100? Now there is some really impressive logic - I think you should run straight down to the AppleStoreright away. So you don't like Vista - I didn't like the previous versions of Nero's burning software, several anti-virus programs, or Nikon's previous image processing software (or XP for that matter). For some of those I didn't buy the next version and for others I simply paid the discounted upgrade version. BTW, if you bought a major marketcomputerwith Vista pre-loaded, you barely paid for the OS anyway - thats one of the reason's all that garbage from every app producer under the sun is loaded on the typical machine out of the box. Actually, if the computer was bought inAugustof 2008, you bought a machine with Vista SP 1. Vista with SP 1 at that point was as stable as any XP release has ever been (or more so). Sorry but this is simply a matter of you not liking something and we will all purchase something in life that we do not like. You will already get a discount when purchasing the upgrade version - why expect anadditionaldiscount on a system that at least in the United States istypicallynot even underwarrantyanymore? Oh, if you are running out to buy one, you might want to pay attention to the fact that it is a Mac, not MAC.... Stephen

I didn't get stuck with Vista, I bought it and have been happy overall. What I learned early on was to make sure my hardware could really support it.I also like Windows 7 and do not expect to get it for a lower cost just because I have Vista. Macs don't come cheap, by the way.
