DHCP issues
I cannot for get my windows 7 machine to get an IP address! I have a W2K3 DHCP server that is also a DC. This past sunday I moved all the workstations (all get DHCP) to a new vlan as we were running out of IP addresses. Ever since then my win7 enterprise box (90 day trial) cannot get an IP address. It logs BAD Address in the dhcp server untill all IP's are used. the workstation then states it has an IP conflict. One of the resoutions I found in googling was to remove the computer from the domain. Which I did then readd it, which I cannot do. I gave it a static IP and it still won't add saying it cannot find a domain controller.I even removed the NIC, rebooted, started with the network cable unplugged, removed IPV6 (and eventually the rest of them). Turned off power save settings, messed with the autosensing....anyone know what is going on. All the other machines on the network or XP and do not have this problem. Also the firewall and windows defender is turned off and there are no other AV/Firewall software installed (as I removed it). Thanks,

When I had DHCP problems when moving company comps to another office building, it was a combo of taking off the alternate DNS settings and getting a router in the system that would act as the DHCP server since the switch wans doing DHCP server stuff. See if taking off alternate DNS settings or adding a router somewhere in your LAN helps.Hello! Thanks for that!. We have layer 3 switches in our network, although we will be adding a router here very soon. I did get it figured out finally. I was mistaken that I had removed my AV. We use symantec End Point protection that only is supposed to install AV and nothing else. However, I looked back and saw that I did not remove that software.Once I uninstalled Symantec everything worked fine. Now I just need to work out why? Thanks again.

Norton/Symantec products are incompatible with win7 except for the NIS 2010 and Norton 360 v3. Next time mentioned what AV you had installed! :)Hello!
