When my NIC connects to the network and DHCP is started, sometimes it can take 16 seconds for the new IP address to be assigned. Whilst waiting for DHCP to complete the ipconfig shows the NIC has assigned the IP address of the previous connection. A netsh dhcpclient trace revealed the DHCP ACKs were not being processesd and error 121 was being generated. Why are the DHCP ACK packets being ignored by the DHCP client? Other information: The DHCP pool is small only 16 addresses, so the IP will wrap around. It can take around 12 media connections before the problem shows and then usually the problem remains for the next few connections.
