DFS Shares dissapear...Offline files issue.
I have some DFS shares set up that user's home drives map to.
On one particular lab of computers we have vista installed the dfs shares dissapear...you can browse out to it but when you get to the folder all of their home drives are stored in it's completely empty...like it's not finding the target or displaying it correctly....this happens to me no where else. Other computers will work fine...it seems to fix it I have to flush dns, clear history on the dfs tab of the share and restart the pc....does this have anything to do with offline files? i've disabled them in this lab because there's no good way to get vista to NOT make redirected folders available offline (the group policy setting does nothing, try it yourself. the redirected my documents etc will be using offline files)John Whites

Hi John,
Thank you for your post.
Is this problematic computer in the same AD site (physical network) as other good computers? Also, if you manually connect to the DFS share by using "\\ServerName\DFSRootName\" (instead of Home Drives or Redirected folder), how it works? If the DFS share works incorrectly, please right click the related DFS share and click Properties. After that, go to the DFS tab and you will see which server is the Active one. You can click the "Check Status" button to see if it is online. Also, please go to that file server and see if the DFS shares are replicated correctly.
Thanks!
