DEP on Explorer and other problems
A few days ago I started to get the error "To help protect your computer windows has closed this program." The program in question is Windows Explorer. So I hit OK, it closes Explorer, and Explorer starts up again, and runs okay. It might throw the same error again, it might not. I've had it maybe five or six times in the last three or four days.At about the same time, I started getting failures in updating all of my programs that update from the net - like McAfee, and Spybot, and Ad-Aware, and Spyware Doctor and Anti-Malware. All of them fail their update task with very uninformative messages. At first I thought that this was a problem with McAfee (as it was the first one I noticed doing this) and I was going to speak to their support, but then I noticed that all the other programs were doing it to.I've run McAfee virus scan and Spybot on my system, and both can find nothing.I can't think of any new programs I installed in the last few days that could have caused this.I'm running Windows XP Home Edition, Version 2002, SP3 on a Dell Dimension 8400.Any suggestions? Do you think the two problems (DEP closing Explorer and the update problem) are related? Thanks for any help at all.1 person needs an answerI do too
