DCOM DLL Host Process Crisis in Windows 7 RC?
In the teams of computing, DLLis a colloquial term for the complications that arise when working with dynamic link libraries (DLLs) used with Microsoft Windows operating systems!
As I have been testing out Windows 7 RC, over the last two Months. - I now can come to some form of Conclusion how it all somes up.
The Good Points
It as a faster start-up (Boot-up) which is a lot smoother! - Also very stable system!
The Bad Points
The lack of any good Sound Card Drivers, that are able to work in Win7. - And also Motherboard BOIS and Driver issues, that will support any configuration. As to allow any "Chipset Settings" to work well in (Win7) Control Panel.
I think this is a major issue that Microsoft, have over looked in this point of time and in the re-development on this platform of Windows 7?Conclusion
One can say, that it is fair to say, it as a lot of good new features on the overall. - But on the other hand, a bit of disappointment of the lack of DLLs files.
Up to now the only fully operating systems from Microsoft: Is good old Windows XP? - Which is more Robust; then Vista and this forth coming new Win7. And also run all Applications and Drivers, with no problem!
Quote from the Wikipedia:"Windows XP introduced a solution called Side-by-Side Component Sharing (MSDN page), which loads separate copies of DLLs for each application that requires them (and thus allows applications that require conflicting DLLs to run simultaneously). This approach eliminates conflicts by allowing applications to load unique versions of a module into their address space, while preserving the primary benefit of sharing DLLs between applications (i.e. reducing memory use) by using memory mapping techniques to share common code between different processes that do still use the same module".
So let us hope and pray that some of these issues will be addressed before official release or later, by using a Service Pack!regards to all,Paul Lucas

Question Why - As Microsoft, fallen short on the Dillhost.exe's; Windows 7 RC?As from the (Task Manager) it only shows two up and running! - And from their Resource Monitor; you will notice that two more dllhost.exe, are showing Terminated.Dllhost . exe is a process belonging to Microsoft Windows Operating System. The dllhost.exe file manages DLL based applications, as required for essential applications to work properly! There is a large family of Dill Files, which are missing in Windows 7 RC. - So can Microsoft, please explain why this is?As in XP; there were all the Dill Files, for all Applications and Drivers, which aloud all applications and all configurations in Modules to work properly! It would be nice to get an answer to this, or will the Dill Files, be all in contact to the full release in Windows 7?regards,Paul Lucas

Hi Ronnie Vernon MVP,
It seems to me, that this will be a problem in Win7, as it is in Vista? - With the lack of DLLs
files, in order to run Applications and Drivers.
As this was no problem in WinXP; as it had all the capable DLLs for all Applications and Drivers!
What, as in Windows 7 lacks? - Is the robust that in XP, as to handle all Applications and Drivers!
So why are Microsoft are making the same mistake, as they did in Vista and now it looks like
for the new coming Windows 7?So all I can say for now, it is a good job that we still have XP to rely on!
