Cursor jumps around
The cursor jumps around when typing. It happens in various programs running through Windows 7. It's happened in Outlook 2003, and in IE 8. I'm running Win 7 RC x64on a hp Pavilion 6000 series laptop with AMD processor and nvidia chipset. I'll be typing along and suddenly the curser jumps to a different line or place in the field i'm typing in.

danb - I really hate when that happens. Please be sure to keep your thumbs firmly elevated and off the touch pad....

I thought that might be what's happening and tried to make sure i wasn't letting my thumbshover too close to the touch pad. I'll watch it and see if that seems to be the problem. thanks

danb - For what it's worth - I sometimes get into a furious typing spree and I notice the same sort of thing going on - and I frequently drop my thumb a bit low or rest my hands a bit too low and off the cursor goes. There used to be a feature on many HP laptops - a small button near the top of the track pad that allowed you to disable it temporarily while you were going at it. But for some silly reason, they removed that feature.

Thanks, Wolfie2k6,
The particular hp laptop i loaded Win 7 RC on has that nifty little button. I seem to forget it's there! Also, I went to hp website and downloaded the drivers for the touchpad and reloaded them. that gives me the ability to adjust the senesitivity of the pad. I should have thought of that from the get go since I 'know' that the touch pad has been the source of this problem in the past. Thanks for the feedback
