Cursor jumps about whilst typing
The cursor on my ACER 5730 using windows 7 skips about the screen as I type. it often jumps back a few spaces and inserts what I am typing there - sometimes it goes to the start of the line or perhaps a line, to the to the head or end of the document. It seems completely random Perhaps reducing the sensitivity of the keyboard will sort this ? I have found no way of doing this in Windows 7

HiThe only thing I can suggest is to check with Acer for any known issues with that laptop model and Windows 7. Acer Knowledgebase Select your system and then your Operating System. This will show all of the latest downloads and documentation for that system.Hope this helps. Thank You for using Windows 7 Ronnie Vernon MVP

question, did you upgrade from Vista or did the machine come with Windows 7 preinstalled? This is an Acer (what) 5730 or 5730G?. For the Travelmate 5730 (not 5730G) there are Windows 7 drivers at http://support.acer.com/drivers_download.aspx and the chipset drivers may correct the erractic behavior. This should be a mouse problem and not necessarily a keyboard problem but if its like my laptop, if I get my palm anywhere near the mouse pad, then it does just the same as yours and its very aggravating and its a Dell 1300/B130. So its a matter of posture that'll correct the erractic behavior.MCSE, MCSA, MCDST [If this post helps to resolve your issue, please click the "Mark as Answer" or "Helpful" button at the top of this message. If the issue persists after installing the latest drivers which are compatible with Windows 7, the issue can be caused by the factors including third party software, device driver, touchpad settings, virus or spyware infection. Please see if the following suggestions can resolve the issue: - If the issue occurred after installing certain software or hardware, please remove it to check the result. Or, you can perform System Restore to restore to the date before the issue first occurred. - Scan your system using anti-spyware and anti-virus software to confirm the system is clean. - Check the touchpad's sensitivity if it is available. You can simply disable the touchpad to test the result. You shall contact the device manufacturer directly to confirm the settings. - Use a mouse pad for better mouse performance. - Replace the mouse and check the result. Regards, Linda

My ACER 5738 touchpad does the same thing. In fact its often completely erratic and drives me bonkers quite frankly. Ive downloaded the latest drivers to no avail! I can't find a way of adjusting the touchpad sensitivity in windows 7, all I can find are mouse adjustments which won't take address the be issues I have. Any help would be much appreciated .....its sending my stress levels throught the roof quite frankly! ......
