I have a Lenovo Y50 laptop with Windows 8.1 in Italian. I recently found out that the hotkey Ctrl + S is not working on the default Windows Notepad.

• Other hotkeys with Ctrl are working.
• File -> Save is working.
• Close Window -> Save is working.
• Only Ctrl + S is not working.
• My Ctrl and S key are working.

I also tested it on another laptop (Alienware with Windows 8.1) and Ctrl S is not working on the default Windows Notepad.

This is not really an issue since I use other software (for example Notepad++, where Ctrl + S works), but it's more of a bug report... If this is the wrong place to report it, please tell me where to report it.

Open CMD as Admin  and type:

sfc /scannow

That should repair any system files.

I have checked the "Ctrl +S" of the Notepad on my Windows 8.1 Enterprise machine and it can work very well.

My Windows 8.1 machine is configured with "EN-US" language.

I suspect this may be related to the language configuration. What is the language configuration of the other Windows 8.1 machine?
If it is possible, we can install the English language package and configure it as preferred to have a troubleshoot.

Thank you very much, the language seems to be the problem. I have logged in with the administrator account which was set in English, and Ctrl+S properly worked.

I am not interested in solving this issue on my machine because I use more advanced text editors, but I just want to make a report: the fact that Ctrl+S does not work in Notepad (even when Notepad clearly says that the Save hotkey is Ctrl + S) is definitely a bug. So how can I report this bug?

Thanks for updating.
I made a test again, I installed the Italian language on my Windows 8.1 Enterprise machine and changed all the configurations to Italy.
The "Ctrl+S" of the Notepad worked all the time. There may be some other reasons to be digged out deeply. We can configured other language as preferred and changed it back to reset the keyboard configuration to have a check.
Since this issue won`t be reproduced, I am afraid it`s not reasonable to report it as a bug. A bug should be reproduced all the time.
