Hi Masta #2, As I am not sure what kind of data you would like to transfer, I assume that you want to share files between the Windows Vista and Windows XP computers. To do so, please follow these steps: 1. Insert the Crossover cable into the Windows Vista and Windows XP computers. 2. Manually assign IP address to the computers:2.1. In Windows XP, click Start, click Run, type ncpa.cpl and press Enter.2.2. In Network Connections window, double-click Local Area Connection, click Properties button, and then double-click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).2.3. In Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties window, select Use the following IP address and type the following: IP address: 192.168.1.1 Subnet mask: 255.255.255.02.4. Click OK to close the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties and Local Area Connection windows to apply the setting.2.5. In Windows Vista, click Start, type ncpa.cap in the Start Search box and press Enter.2.6. In Network Connections window, double-click Local Area Connection, click Properties button, and then double-click Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4).2.7. In Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties window, select Use the following IP address and type the following: IP address: 192.168.1.2 Subnet mask: 255.255.255.02.8. Click OK to close the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties and Local Area Connection windows to apply the setting. 3. Temporarily turn off the firewall on both computers. 4. After that, please refer to the following articles to configure file sharing:How to configure file sharing in Windows XPhttp://support.microsoft.com/kb/304040File and Printer Sharing in Windows Vistahttp://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb727037.aspx Hope it helps.
