Critical updates and MRT
Just looked at the log for the recent Malicious Software Removal Tool and see a lot of 'exceptions' which scares us a lot. We have an XP computer and believe the D drive is a "Recovery Partition" and cannot be infected. But the 11 exceptions show //D:\autorun.infwhich some postings on the Internet say refer to an virus/infection, etc.Is my computer infected? Can someone please let us know because, as I said, we are really worried. Please advise and thank you.AliceMicrosoft Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool v3.12, October 2010Started On Tue Oct 12 21:49:47 2010WARNING: Security policy doesn't allow for all actions MSRT may require.->Scan ERROR: resource file://D:\autorun.inf (code 0x00000021 (33))->Scan ERROR: resource file://D:\autorun.inf (code 0x0000054F (1359))->Scan ERROR: resource file://D:\autorun.inf (code 0x00000021 (33))->Scan ERROR: resource file://D:\autorun.inf (code 0x0000054F (1359))->Scan ERROR: resource file://D:\autorun.inf (code 0x00000021 (33))->Scan ERROR: resource file://D:\autorun.inf (code 0x0000054F (1359))->Scan ERROR: resource file://D:\autorun.inf (code 0x00000021 (33))->Scan ERROR: resource file://D:\autorun.inf (code 0x0000054F (1359))->Scan ERROR: resource file://D:\autorun.inf (code 0x00000021 (33))->Scan ERROR: resource file://D:\autorun.inf (code 0x0000054F (1359))->Scan ERROR: resource file://D:\autorun.inf (code 0x00000021 (33))->Scan ERROR: resource file://D:\autorun.inf (code 0x0000054F (1359))Engine internal result code = 80508015Results Summary:----------------No infection found.Microsoft Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool Finished On Tue Oct 12 21:51:53 20101 person needs an answerI do too

Hi,The log says that the scan could not run due to some security policy.Probably there is no permission to access the D drive; hence it’s giving this error. You can ignore the error message as it says no infection found. If you are still worried, you may try running a virus scan using a different software. You can use Microsoft security essentials.
