Creating a system image creates some rather strange results!
I intend to do some software testing over the weekend and thought I would do an image beforehand just in case things go pear shaped. Unfortunately it's went that way already! I used the W7 backup tool to create a system image but for some reason it thinks I have restored my system! This occurred using Windows 7 Ultimate x64

Where was the system from, from an backup image or a fresh installation? This behavior may occur if the system is from an image. However if the system is from a fresh installation, please let us know if you have run System Restore before? You may check Event Log and try to find if System Restore has been run. If you did not run System Restore manually, may be the system is restored by some applications. Please disable the programs from startup and check the result. This issue can also be caused by incompatible anti-virus. You may temporary disable your antivirus and check the result. If the issue exists, you may use System Restore to restore to a fine status.Arthur Xie - MSFT
