Crashed
I have a HP All-in-one. When started up the computer defaults to 12 pages of wordpad. Programs will not load when clicked instead they default to windows wordpad. Internet is working however I can get it only through Directory Opus, a file manager program which I have used for 15 years or so. I can give more information if you need it. I am an experienced user for about 24 years but I am elderly now and the white hair is taking over. HP answered my email but I cannot use anything suggested because anti virus programs default. As I have internet working there may be something I can do online other than downloading as any file would need clicking and up would come wordpad again. I now have a phone number for HP NZ. Why not delete wordpad? It wouldn't go away! Any ideas e.g. go to Trend Micro and they can do an online scan well that seems to be a thing of the past. I am still hoping to think of something. Before the crash I was trying to get the Brother MFC990CW to be able to scan. I no doubt wore components out with my efforts.

Can you go into safe mode with network support? If you can download Malwarebytes and install it. Run a full scan of your computer. Superantispyware is another good program. If you can't download from your computer you can download on another computer and use a flash drive to install in safe mode. You may be able to delete wordpad in safe mode also.

All is corrected now! I found ESETwhich is a genuine online scanner. It found 3 faults - Regedit, My websearch (2 times). This is where it was: www.eset.eu/eset-online-scanner.nof

Glad you got it corrected. It still wouldn't hurt to down load Malwarebytes and install it so you can run scans a few times a week to stay on top of things. They have a free version. http://www.malwarebytes.org/
