Could not delete some garbage folders in Windows 7
I noticed few folders in my D drive which have very long annoying folder names. I could not delete them even though I am logged in with admin account. I tried giving full permissions, removing readonly...etc but still could not delete them. The folder names
are like
ab11faea5dec64e65d9ec429
4239501cb47f51caeaf3f1 etc. Can you suggest any way to forcibly delete them? I have bit defender antivirus in my system and I ran full system scan and it has identified and deleted few viruses, but still I could not delete these folders. Any
help is greatly appreciated.

Try deleting in Safe Mode, i.e. tap F8 as you switch on and then select Safe Mode from the menu.
If that fails, read, download and run the free KillBox, it doesn’t need installing, here

Also, LockHunter, 32-bit or 64-bit here

Hi BurrWalnut
Thanks for your reply. But unfortunately I could not delete those folders in all the three ways.
1. I am unable to delete those from safe mode too.
2. I downloaded killbox and it could not run. Says 76, path cannot be found.
3. I have installed lockhunter, it says there are no locks on the folders and when I tried its delete option, it says it could not delete.
In safe mode I saw the contents of these folders. They are containing two folders 1033 and hotfixexpressadv which contain more subfolders and files which seem related to sql server express edition 2008. I am not sure why sql server express edition is creating
these, if it needs it can create 1 folder but not sure why 7 such ugly named folders are created and they are not hidden too and they look annoying everytime I open my D drive.
Thank you again for your help, any additional help would be greatly appreciated. Dot Net Programmer

Did you get any "Access Denied" messages when changing the permissions? Did you also go into Advanced, and try changing the options there? Make sure the checkbox for replacing all child premissions is checked as well.

Hi,
You may try to delete the files with
Command Prompt in
System Recovery Options.
You may also try a third party tool,
Unlocker.
Note: The third-party product discussed here is manufactured by a company that is independent of Microsoft. We make no warranty, implied or otherwise,
regarding this product's performance or reliability.
What is the result?

These folders can be deleted, but you would have to give your admisistrator user a delete permisstion on that folder.
