Corrupted Recycle Bin on redirected user folders error
Hi there, I have a lab setup at a school featuring Win2003 server and Win7 Enterprise clients. When a user logs onto the Win7 clients, they get the following errors: "The recycle bin on \\server\username\My Videos is corrupted. Do you want to empty the Recycle Bin for this drive?" If you click Yes, it moves onto an identical message, but this time about \\server\username\My Pictures, then \\server\username\My Music, and finally \\server\username itself. The interesting thing here is the username listed in the error is my tech account, not the user who is trying to log in. I've read similar error messages here but they're not quite the same. They seem to point to a permissions problem. But I haven't had luck so far. Suggestions? Thanks!

What stands out to me is ... Why are the Win 7 clients' User account subfolders mapping to your User account's subfolders on the server ? \\server\YourUserAccount\My Videos \\server\YourUserAccount\My Pictures \\server\YourUserAccount\My Music \\server\YourUserAccountMowGreen Windows Expert IT Pro - Consumer Security *-343-* FDNY NEVER FORGOTTEN

Not sure...They didn't have permissions to access it (but the SYSTEM did). I ended up disabling the share to get rid of the message. I was just more curious as I read about similar errors online, but they were involving SBS2003...

Hi, If a user does not have the permission of the network locations, the error occurs. Therefore, I suggest giving the Full Control permission to the user who meet the error message on \\server\username. Also check if the following post is helpful. http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/windowsserver2008r2rds/thread/6112baae-6a05-4d1c-8565-bd2bbcf0804b In addition, I suggest contacting Windows Server Forum to check the issue. This answer is in no way, shape or form useful. Are you suggesting that he resolve this problem by giving users access to his home directory? Timbit: With one of your users logged in, pop open regedit and check "HCKU/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Explorer/User Shell Folders" to ensure folder redirection is working correctly. Check to see if the corresponding values for, say, 'My Videos' are pointing towards their respective directories. (Such as \\server\%username%\My Videos) If it's pointing at My Videos in YOUR directory, folder redirection isn't working and thus users are getting this error. This was a problem I hit very early when deploying my first Win7 VDI infrastructure. Personally, I skip folder redirection in group policy and just use a simple logon script to change the registry key.
