Corrupted .dll files, Blue Screens of Death

Hello,

I have recently run into an issue with my computer where I have corrupted .dll files that are affecting some programs/processes. I have done a full scan with Windows Defender which didn't turn up any viruses or malware and I am not sure what the cause of the issue is. Here is there error message i get on start up - Title: "STM3 Traylcon: E_IATIHILA.EXE - Entry Point Not Found", Description - "The procedure entry point HttpslsHostHstsEnabled could not be located in the dynamic link library C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\urlmon.dll". After some researching I downloaded a program called SFCFix which revealed for me that I have two .dll files that are corrupted and could not be fixed which were:

CORRUPT: C:\WINDOWS\winsxs\amd64_microsoft-windows-devices-custom_31bf3856ad364e35_6.3.9600.17415_none_87cce655aa6efac7\Windows.Devices.Custom.dll
CORRUPT: C:\WINDOWS\winsxs\x86_microsoft-windows-devices-custom_31bf3856ad364e35_6.3.9600.17415_none_2bae4ad1f2118991\Windows.Devices.Custom.dll

I tried to copy non-corrupted files from another computer to replace those, but I was unsuccessful because I was not able to alter them even after giving myself ownership of them and permission. I also tried using the command line and the command regsvr32 to try to install the replacement .dll files I have, but I did not have success with that either. The reason why I went through all this trouble was because I was unsure about doing a system restore, as I don't want to lose anything.

I am not sure if this could be related, but I have had numerous Blue Screens of Death before I ran into this issue. I recorded a few of them, and I believe all of them occured after my computer woke from sleeping. Here are the Error messages I got:

Kernel_DATA_Inpage_Error  (x3)

NTFS_FILE_System (x2)

System_Service_Exception (x1)

MEMORY_Management (x1)

It seems like it may have to do with my memory having a registry error or something, but that's what I got. Sorry for the long post, I could just use some help. I may also not be able to reply quickly to responses until later in the evening (Eastern Time). Thanks for reading and I hope you can help!

It looks like you may have determined the cause of the BSOD, however I'd like to take a look at your DMP files in order to be sure that we are going down the right path. Please upload them to your onedrive or another file sharing program and post the link here. If your account is not verified and will not let you post a link, replace HTTP with HXXP and post.

If you need instructions on how to locate the files I am asking for, refer to this wiki

If you have any questions, please ask.

Follow Acreed02 advice about the dump files (we need them)

As to the boot error message

e_yatihwa.exe is the EPSON Status Monitor 3 program is part of the EPSON Bi-directional Printer ...  completely remove the software and re-install it.

Also you should run DISM to repair the 2 corrupt files.  Instructions for which are at the end of this wiki

All instructions are in our Wiki article below...
Should you have any questions please ask us.

Dang! It appears that my Minidump folder has been emptied for some reason - it may have been CCleaner when I did a clean up. I guess I have to wait for my computer to crash again to see what is going on =/

Yes, CCleaner will empty the DMP folder.

EDIT: In the meantime, follow ZigZag's instruction to run DISM to repair the corrupted files.

Okay, so I fixed my corrupted files successfully, but I still have some issues which I thought were caused by these corrupted files. The issues are:

1) The icons for the file explorer and sticky notes appears as a page on the task bar.

2) I cannot use the search button from the menu that pops up after moving the cursor to the bottom right of the screen.

3) I cannot move a file, shortcut, or folder to a new destination by dragging and dropping it in that destination

4) The program GSmartSwitch which was included with my gigabyte motherboard has stopped working, and the "debug" option does not fix it.

I'm sorry I did not mention these issues before

Gsmart is the issue for all of the above

GSmartSwitch is Gigabyte Smart Switch, which provides a "classic shell" look to Windows 8.x (instead of the standard Microsoft "Metro" tiled interface).  I would remove it or if you cannot live without it check with Gigabyte for updates, patches ,etc

Can we get your event viewer logs?  I suspect there is much more going on behind the scenes

Please read this wiki to find out how to find and upload your event viewer logs

Alright, so I unistalled the SmartSwitch but I could not open the event viewer because I was getting an entry point not found error. Should I just try to do a system restore at this point?

Can you view the event log from safe mode?

I tried viewing from the safe mode, but it did not work as well. I also tried a system restore, but that did not do the trick either.

Suspect it is time for a system reset

I'd agree with ZigZag, there is only so much time you can put into troubleshooting before it becomes less of a hassle to rebuild.
