Copying Pictures from Windows XP Computer to New Computer
New laptop. Keeping old desktop with Windows XP. Network is setup and I shared the pictures on the Windows XP computer. I'm am now trying to copy the pictures to the new laptop. Most of the pictures copy without a problem. Some I get a message that I need administrator privileges to copy. I identiifed one of the pictures it can't copy and tried to look at the properties on it from the laptop. It said I needed administrator privileges. I believe the problem is that some of the pictures on the Windows XP computer do not have an owner identified and the laptop gets hung up on those. I created a copy of one of the problem pictures and I can copy it to the laptop without a problem.I couldn't figure out how to look at or set the owner of any files on the XP computer. Is there a way I can set the owner on the entire My Pictures folder on the XP computer so they can be copied to the new laptop? Or any other solution to this short of identifying all the pictures that won't copy and making a copy of each picture?

Thank you so much. You've saved me hours of time by pointing me to the articles. I was treating the XP computer like mine, which has XP Pro. This one has XP home, and getting to the security tab is a much different process. It appears to be transferring all the pictures now. Thanks again.Christine
