Copy Paste Issue
When I copy lets say 13 files from my hard disk to a pen drive, copy paste happens. While the process is on, it shows 14 files being copied, i.e. 1 file extra. Whe I look into the destination copy folder, I find only 13 files. And when I delete that folder, it mentions 14 files being deleted. Which is this one extra file

I think you might be seeing a desktop.ini file being copied. It's something Windows uses to identify how a folder should be displayed, much like the .DS_Store files used in OS X. You don't see it after the copying is done usually. That's my best guess.

Thanks for the answer. After copying of the folder is completed, I see only the number of files I have copied. But when I go to delete the destination folder, which contains lets say 13 files, a message comes that 14 files are being deleted. I assume that there is an extra file which I dont see in the folder. I see only 13 files. Windows 7 displays message of 1 extra file when copying is being done and when deletion is being done.

I understand what you are saying. I believe it's a desktop.ini file being copied. After it's copied you won't see it until you try to delete the folder. The desktop.ini file is a hidden file used to customize and adjust settings for the Windows folders that contain the file. I think if you set your folder options to view all files you might see it in there.

I agree, either that or a thumbs.db file. In windows explorer, go to Tools-Folder Options-View and activate "Show hidden files and folders". You should be able to see all files now. hope this helps.David :: Please vote if the info helped you :: Please post back so everyone can benefit from the solution ::
